Dear Professor Clark:
My name is Afsana Akter. My motherland is Bangladesh and I grew up in the old town of the Dhaka city. It has been eight years that I am living in New York City. In my country my major was Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering (ETE). After getting married I came to New York. I could not finish my study because I was excited to start a new life. After living few years I applied to The City College. Now my major is Computer Engineering and I am in my sophomore year.
My major is a combination of Computer Science and Electrical Engineering. Computer Science is best for learn programming language which is useful to develop software, and Electrical Engineering gives good knowledge of circuit design. Even though Electrical Engineering field teaches many things beside circuit design. Most of the courses I am taking are gradually developing my ability to use my skills in the software development field. My short-term goal is to find an Internship opportunity to join a program and learn more to update my resume. City College offers Internship programs through Career and Professional Development (CPDI). I am eager to join one of the Internship program.
If I get to join one of the Internship program then my long-term goals will be to update my level of skills so that I can succeed in the job sector. There are so many topics in this technological world is still unrevealed. It is hard to find what is coming next in the future. Machine language is changing day by day. Back then programmers used to use C language. Later it upgraded to C++. Software developers use these languages to develop software. Security is one of the very important fact to keep an application safe. Security options can be used to secure the application we use in our phones and computers. The more secure the application is, the more steps are introduced in the usability cycle. Security can help to lock important information of a person. I hope I will be able to work to better our future of Software development. When I was a kid I used to read articles about Robotics. The time Engineers work was on progress to build an intelligent robot. Today we have an intelligent robot named “SOFIA”. I am looking forward to what my future is holding to work for.
Sincerely,
AFSANA AKTER
