Technical description was about to write a verbal and visual representation of an object. The object had to something very simple yet including few parts with it. This kind of description is very important in the Engineering communication field. Most important thing is to introduce an object with a clear explanation to the audience. I chose a Mechanical Pencil. I use a mechanical pencil every single day to collect class notes. When I got this assignment, I read instructions about the writing materials required for this course. Then went to the writing center to have a brain storming session. I ended up getting a good help organizing my ideas to write about this assignment. I was a bit nervous when I noticed that, I have to write at least seven pages. Gradually it gotten better. Research was a must thing for this assignment. Google came to rescue at this matter. I did not know that, a Mechanical Pencil could have a history behind its invention. I read its history and ended up to know who was the first inventor for a mechanical pencil. This was an amazing experience after reading its entire history. A mechanical pencil was just a simple pencil to me before this assignment but looks like it is not anymore. I also ended up searching for its parts and subpart name and what specifically those part does. I have definitely learned a mechanical pencils parts and subpart name and its properties. Research was a mandatory option for this assignment to get extra help to find this objects inventor and images. I used images of my own mechanical pencil. I tried my best to write the way an audience can get an entire knowledge of a mechanical pencil. I think it is getting monotonous saying that English is my second language, so I am trying my best to get better every time. Professor’s explanation did help to organize writing this assignment. I read all steps about this assignment to get a better knowledge. One thing unclear was the In-text citation, which I did not know how to do it right. After getting drafts I did some research in it. I do not know how I did so far but I will try my best to get better next time.
